In this newly-inked sequence from the Megaton Man: Return to Megatropolis graphic novel (now in production, publication details TBD), Megaton Man transports new roomie and sidekick Connie Carlyle to Bayonne, New Jersey to introduce her to the Doom Defiers and the whole blamed extended Megaton Man nuclear family! Connie's status as a semi-pro beach volleyball player will be a boon in the team's upcoming match against the Bronx Bombers, if she doesn't fall asleep during practice! Simon Phloog is just glad be spending time with his dad, although he seems enthusiastic about this sandball ringer in general. At the same time, Kozmik Kat looks on as a mysterious delivery is made to the Doomsday Factory...
(Fun drawing the container cranes of the Port of New York and New Jersey, along with the Statue of Liberty!)

Joisey Self-Store: The Inking Continues!
Here is a sequence I am inking for the new graphic novel Megaton Man: Return to Megatropolis, from the fourth "issue" (hence the cryptic numbering at the top of each tier), although I am hoping to release five issues' worth, or 160 pages, in a single volume (publication deatils TBD). In this scene, Megaton Man drops of the trailer he used to move his stuff back into his New York apartment, which is no sublet by Connie Carlyle, his new de facto sidekick. Meanwhile, the menacing cabbie with the penchant for uploading threatening videos resurfaces. Each image shows the pencils (scanned and printed out at the same size they were drawn) and the inked Clearprint Design Vellum final, which will then be scanned and colored.

Special Delivery: Meet the Doom Defiers!
Here is a sequence from All-New Megaton Man #4 (pub TBD) that I have been working on, part of which I have posted before. The new pencil roughs frame the pages inked within the past year. Not only is the Devenger's legendary "D" table (from Megaton Man #8, February 1986) transformed, some history of the team and its Bayonne headquarters is revealed, and the current line-up of Doom Defiers is introduced (stage-managing a team book is the greatest narrative challenge I have ever faced)! Will Ms. Megaton Man ever get out of the beach house and join the volleyball practice?! Stay tuned!
(See previous posts on this blog for more previews of the All-New Megaton #1-4.)

Doomsday Drive: Meet Me in Bayonne!
Rough pencil layouts for the opening sequence to the All-New Megaton Man #4 (publication TBD). Megaton Man returns the trailer he used to move back into his old Megatropolis apartment, in which he found new roommate and quasi-sidekick Connie Carlyle subletting. The pair grab a convenient cab ride from Alhambra Rasputin, who has been uploading terrorist videos -- but is he responsible for the attacks that brought the Man of Molecules back to New York, or is he just some homegrown nut? And why are the Doom Defiers playing beach volleyball in Bayonne NJ with terror alert levels through the roof?! The answers may lie at the end of Doomsday Drive...
The sequence continues is the previous post.

Sandball: The Doom Defiers' Fabulous Beach House!
These are a selection of rough layouts from the All-New Megaton Man #4 (publication TBD) in which Megaton Man brings his new roommate Connie Carlyle to a beach volleyball practice in Bayonne, New Jersey. The Doom Defiers face a challenge match with the Bronx Bombers, and Connie is a semi-pro sandball player and aspiring Megahero. But will she be accepted by the group? Will they come together as a team? And will they be ready for the match?!

The Dirt on Slum Clearance: Trent Gets the Scoop!
Trent Phloog revisits his old stomping grounds, the newspaper offices of The Manhattan Project, to find old flame Pamela Jointly at the editing helm, and his tenuous background as an investigative reporter put to the test. At issue is a redevelopment plan for Ground Zero that will transform Megatropolis into an unlivable city, something Connie Carlyle, entering the narrative here for the first time, protests! Panels from my work in progress (for more previews, see previous postings on this blog!).

The Purple Perpetrator: Bad Guy!
Some panels from the All-New Megaton Man #3, a work in progress. I have been coloring selected panels from the first three issues for a pitch to a print publisher we'll be making this summer. (See other posts on this blog to piece together the storyline!)

Not Megaton Man, Just Friends: Trent's New Roommate in Color!
Connie Carlyle, Megaton Man's new roommate, is introduced in what I'm currently calling The All-New Megaton Man #3. My plan is to have several issues in the can, to be released either singly or as a graphic novel (to be determined) in 2016 or 2017. Below are some colored selections; to read the entire sequence in line art, click here. More previews of the work in progress than you can shake a stick at throughout this blog!

Return to The Manhattan Project: More Roughs from The New Megaton Man #3
Here is the latest batch of roughs for The New Megaton Man #3 (see also previous posting). In this sequence, Megaton Man (actually his alter-ego, Trent Phloog) decides to drop into his old newspaper, The Manhattan Project, to see what's up. Featured in the sequence are the returns of Pamela Jointly, Kevin The Columnist (from MM #4, 1985), the Sawdust Dummy, Bad Guy, and -- just to show that I do have one or two new ideas -- the first appearance of Connie Carlyle, here an unnamed protester in the crowd, but soon to become a major character in the ongoing storyline. The original roughs are in light blue and graphite pencil on bond layout. The grey versions will be printed out at full size and inked on translucent Clearprint Design Vellum. (Examples of my new inking method abound on this blog and is explained in mind-numbing technical detail on the Ms. Megaton Man blog as well.)
